Problem Statement


Calling all budding engineers and creative minds! Gear up for a thrilling challenge that tests your ingenuity and bridge-building prowess: The Popsicle Stick Bridge Competition!**


Conditions:


  • Eligibility: Open to B.E. / B. Tech and Polytechnic level students only. Unleash your academic knowledge and put it to the test in a fun and practical way!

  • Material: Channel your inner MacGyver! You'll be provided with the essential tools: Popsicle sticks, adhesive, and a cutter. Bridge dimensions will be revealed at the competition, so bring your strategic thinking A-game. (Don't forget your own scale, pencil, eraser, and pen - they'll be your trusty allies!)

  • Team Power: Teamwork makes the dream work! Collaborate with up to 3 fellow engineers to brainstorm, design, and build the ultimate popsicle stick bridge. Remember, communication and teamwork are key!

  • Time Crunch: Think fast and build smart! You'll have 4 hours to transform those humble popsicle sticks into a masterpiece of structural integrity and architectural wonder. Time management will be your secret weapon!

  • So, are you ready to rise to the challenge? Grab your team, unleash your creativity, and prepare to build the strongest, most innovative bridge using only popsicle sticks! Impress the judges with your engineering prowess and win bragging rights (and maybe even some awesome prizes!).


    Judging Criteria:


  • Two rounds will be there viz. preliminary round and final round.
  • Rules & Regulations


    • Robot should be as per the given specifications..

    • The robot should not damage the area..

    • No team should make use of any offensive techniques like fire or chemical means.

    • The robot must not leave behind any of its parts during the run; else it will result in disqualification.

    • 2 hand touches are allowed for qualification with penalty of 10 sec. each and 1 hurdle skips are allowed for each skip with penalty of 30 sec. All penalty will be added in time of completion of round

    Robot Specifications


    • Robot should fit into a box of maximum (30cm * 30cm * 30cm) (L * B * H). It must not exceed beyond the given size.

    • Bot should be wired or wireless.

    • Maximum weight of BOT must be 3kg (including battery weight if wireless).

    • The wires should be properly insulated.

    • The length of the wire (for wired bots) should be long enough to cover the whole track (around 15m or more) and the wire should remain slack during the complete run.

    • Wireless bots will be preferred as it would reduce wire entanglement.

    • If the wire gets entangled, the coordinator's decision will be final and no negotiations will be entertained.

    • The maximum voltage limit set is 24V DC.

    • At any point of the run, the voltage should not exceed 24V. Failing to comply will result in instant disqualification of the bot.

    • In case the machine is using a non-electric power supply, kindly get it approved from the organizers beforehand. Organizers are not responsible for inconvenience if approval is not sought.

    • Any mechanism used must be informed to the organizers beforehand.

    • Readymade toy cars are not allowed.

    Phases in the Event

    • Elimination Round:

      • The team with the fastest time advances to the next round.
      • The number of teams qualifying for the next round depends on their ranking in this round.
      • In case of a tie, a quick on-the-spot task will be given to both teams, and the winner will be determined by the best time completed on that task.
    • Finals:

      • The team that completes the entire track in the shortest time wins the competition.
      • Note: Additional rules for the next round will be announced at the end of the Elimination Round.
